Background
A native of Pakistan, Dr. Naqvi has been affiliated with UCLA as Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine before joining the Keck School of Medicine of USC in 2007. Dr. Naqvi began her career at Cedars-Sinai in 1996 as a staff cardiologist, eventually becoming the center's Associate Director of Echocardiography and director of cardiovascular screening and interventional ultrasound. She currently heads the echocardiography services at the Keck School of Medicine, at the 3 facilities at LAC-USC hospital, USC University Hospital and at the outpatient imaging facility at the Cardiovascular Diagnostic and Thoracic Institute. She superviss junior faculty, sonographers, nurses and nurse practioners and is responsible, along with her colleagues, for training clinical cardiology fellows as well as research echocardiography fellows. Several peer reviewed manuscripts, review articles and viewpoints are published from the echocardiography laboratories at USC every year and the center participates in echocardiography research presentations and didactic lectures in various national meetings throughout the year.
In addition to her extensive research funding and published articles, Dr. Naqvi is currently or previously has been a member of 10 professional societies, including the American Heart Association, American College of Cardiology and the Los Angeles Society of Echocardiology.which she served as a past president. She is a reviewer for over 10 journals, is an editorial consultant for journals such as Journal of American College of Cardiology and is a member of National Institute of Health Study Section and of the American Heart Association Westeran States Affliate. Among her vast array of honors and awards, include young investigator award from the American Heart Association and excellence in academic achievement award from Association of Physicians of Pakstani Descent of North America. She has several ongoing funded research projects evaluating echocardiography during biventricular pacemaker optimization, pregnancy and in evaluation of intima media thickness for cardiovascular risk predication.
