ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY

Atrial Fibrillation and Mechanical Activation of Atria Post Cardioversion
Determination of Atrial Function Non Invasively by Tissue Doppler Echocardiography in Patients undergoing Cardioversion for Atrial Fibrillation/Flutter

Principal Investigator
Tasneem Naqvi, M.D.

Research Fellow
Samuel Daneshvar, M.D.

Study Summary
The goal of the study is to identify certain measurements made during transesophageal echocardiogram (TEE) that will predict the likelihood of maintaining normal sinus rhythm after electrical cardioversion.

CRT Optimization

Principal Investigator
Tasneem Naqvi, M.D.

Research Fellow
Samuel Daneshvar, M.D.

Study Summary
The purpose of this study is to test a new technique that will detect any changes in the heart function and rhythm after the programming and optimization changes to a CRT-D device are made. Either the SphygmoCor or Audiocor Device will be used to detect changes in heart function while the CRT-D is being programmed. This study will examine whether small adjustments of the two sides of the heart actually lead to improvement in heart performance as well as examine how well people who undergo this device optimization are doing physically 1 month after device programming.
